Vicki Hornowski has been in education for 35 years as a teacher and a tutor in both language and math. She is trained in the basic Orton-Gillingham Language program as well as the Multisensory Math program. She taught 22 years in the state of North Carolina Public Schools and 13 years at the Key School at Carolina Day School. She has a MEd in Early Childhood education.

Presently Vicki has just retired from the public schools and has joined Thrive Education Center so that she may continue to work with students who present learning challenges, specifically those with Dyslexia. She teaches first at the concrete level where students have much work with hands on manipulatives. Once those concepts are grasped she moves to the representational level where the students are given a variety of images as well as a bit of text, and ultimately she moves her students into the abstract level which occurs when their skills have reached a level of automaticity.
